肋骨英文是rib; costa。
肋骨是一種弧形小骨，一端連于軀干部脊椎骨的兩側，路體壁向展面彎曲，另一端呈游肉狀態(tài)或連于胸部中央的胸骨上。魚類的肋骨。市端與脊椎骨相連，股端游離而在高等的脊椎動物中，肋骨的腹端和胸骨相連，共同構成胸廓。胸廓既可保護心臟、肺，又可加強呼吸的機能。
肋骨的一般形態(tài)：后端稍膨大，叫肋頭，有關節(jié)面與胸椎體的肋凹形成關節(jié)，從肋頭向后外變細，叫肋頸，再向外變扁成肋體，頸與體結合處的后面突起叫做肋結節(jié)，有關節(jié)面與胸椎橫突肋凹相關節(jié)。
肋體向外轉為向前的轉彎處叫肋角，肋體下緣內面有容神經(jīng)血管經(jīng)過的肋溝。肋體前端粗糙，接肋軟骨，肋軟骨為透明軟骨，與胸骨側緣相關節(jié)。
第1肋骨短小而彎曲，頭和頸稍低于體，肋體扁，可分為上、下兩面和內、外兩緣。上面內緣處有前斜角肌附著形成的前斜角肌結節(jié)，結節(jié)的前、后方各有淺溝，是鎖骨下靜脈和鎖骨下動脈的壓跡。
下面無肋溝，前端借肋軟骨直接與胸骨相結合。第2肋比第1肋稍長，更近似于一般肋骨。第11、12肋無肋結節(jié)、肋頸及肋角，體直而短，末端鈍圓，肋軟骨終身不骨化。
